Who are FROST Live DJs?

Rory Higgins (Floraville, 18) and Shane Murray (Dunmanway, 20) are two great friends who have known eachother a long time who both have a major interest in the art of music. While greatly similar, the two lads are very different when it comes to music interests... Shane is very into Hip/Hop or Rap music which has made a huge impact on where he is today while Rory is interested in Techno music which has aided him into learning the mechanics of DJIng. Both lads always had an interest in the craft of music however with Shane even buying a whole beginner studio set in 4th Year which included a mic, audio interface, stands, a midi keyboard, etc. Rory purchased a DDJ RZ in late 2024 which began his learning while it took until Christmas that year where Shane recieved a lot of music making equipment which included a small DJ Deck ( Numark Party Mix 2). Rory picked up the art of DJing extremely fast which ultimatley aided the quick rise of succession for him, working on music such as pop/house/techno etc. Shane barely used his Numark Decks however due to the drive of him making Hip/Hop music until his friend Ben Whelan (Newcestown, 19) gave Shane a better decks to help pursue his love for music and DJing.

The Creation of FROST Live DJs

One Day in March 2025, Shane and Rory went on a drive and an idea arose of a possible duo group being formed where they would do their own gigs but they would have a partnership and promote/help eachother as they go. They agreed to proceed with idea and then had to decide on a name to call themselves. They rang their friend Luke O'Sullivan (Dunmanway, 18) who helped them decide on a name. Shane had previously watched the show 'The Walking Dead' where a characters name was 'Frost' and thought if they had that name with a color theme of baby blue and white, that it would be a success. After a lot of another horrible names were discussed, Rory decided that Frost was indeed a good name to call themselves (Luke Sully infact did not like the name Frost). They set up a weekly planner and had aims and objectives for the end of the weeks which included contacting establishments, setting up social media platforms and creating a Logo. Rory worked on ideas for a Logo and Shane set up a Instagram and a Facebook. They both went home and that was Day One of Frost Live DJs complete....

The Start of FROST Live DJs

Rory announced on his social media about the new project by stating, "Summer’s looking cold…" which gained a lot of eyeballs to FROST. Shane contacted 'Dunmanway Chamber of Commerce' in hope of any aid for two local lads. Tim Buckley (Founder of Buckley Financial & Head of The Chamber of Commerce) arranged for a meeting with the lads where they discussed about different opportunities for the two lads and for the town. FROST Live DJs decided to offer a day of volunteering on one of Dunmanways biggest days of the year, St. Patricks Day for a opportunity to showcase their talent on stage in the square. This would indeed be FROST Live DJs first gig together but Shane decided to see if he could find a gig before the big performance to get a bit of experience. Shane entered The Arch Bar, Dunmanway where he offered to play a gig for free. Conor O'Mahony agreed and gave him his first ever gig. Shane performed in The Arch where even after saying he would do it for free, Conor would infact pay him for the night which was positive feedback for Shane and FROST Live DJs and created huge respect for Conor & The Arch Bar from FROST. Rory would recieve the opportunity to play in Creedons, Inchigeela for an 18th. This was a huge step for FROST Live DJs as Rory had taken FROST out of Dunmanway, expanding the name.

FROST Live DJ's Right Now

Summer went extremely well for FROST Live DJ's with Rory taking over the Birthday/House Party scene due to his unique knowledge of multiple genres, while also purchasing certain lights and accessories to make a unforgettable experience for all attendees. While on the other hand can be a struggle for Rory with promotion due to the aspect of the eventsbeing private functions. Rory also did the music for the 'Feel The Force Festival' in Dunmanway which had people from all over the world at the event, again using his wide range of knowledge of music to satisfy a whole town of people watching on as Rory played his music while the parade marched through. 'Feel The Force' was not the only festival in Dunmanway Rory preformed at, as Rory also set stage at Ballabuidhe aswell as Shane. Summer indeed also went well for Shane as he gained residency in GG's Gin Bar in Clonakilty every Friday Night, performing pop/ hip/hop/ house/etc. Shane also played at a range of events at places such as Kilbrittian Inn, The Gaelic Bar, The Kino etc. Shanes goal when he started DJing was to DJ for a rapper due to his love for Rap/ Hip/Hop, Shane got to live out a goal of his recently by DJing for rap sensation 'Malol Black' in The Liberty in Cork City. Shane's goal is to create a hip/hop scene in Cork City. Shane did get called DJ FROST a lot by advertisers yet he wanted to confirm that the name 'FROST' by itself stands for him and his best friend Rory but he did indeed want to represent FROST in his DJ name so Shane chose to go with the name DJ 00Fr0st which the "00" is a symbol of Shane's favourite artist 'Playboi Carti'. Shane also could not afford equipment to get himself started up DJing but Rian & John Daly provided him with Speakers/Lights and everything he could need to perform at a event which he is extremley grateful for. Finally Shane and Rory did again perform together over the summer as they were the DJ's for MICC Dunmanways 'Class of 2025's Graduation and it was indeed a wonderful night with a massive ovation afterwards for the duo.
